So Far

As all of you loyal readers know I have been working on a computer recycling project with three other people. So far in this project i have learned that goodwill computer works mainly recycles computers instead of refurbishing them. I have also learned what it takes to disassemble a computer and now know what a computer is made of inside. We have been working on a display board and i am learning all the toxic components of a computer. Other things that i have learned include how to create a wiki and i now know what it takes to design a logo and pamphlet. All of these things relate to many different teks including 2(a)apply computer technology to individual or community problems; and 3(c)use graphic software to create and modify images. This is what i have learned so far and hope to expand my brain even further with the help of you, goodwill, and my classmates.

we did it again.

We did it again. we are in the process of making a display for our project and it is going great. our display will be a board with computer parts attached to it so that we can show how computer parts are toxic. this apply to tek 2(a) saving the world.

...this Saturday myself and three other people went to goodwill. this was a nice learning experience for us because we now know what it takes to assemble a computer as well as take one apart, this brought so problems because we do not have the supply's necessary to complete our project, this should be ok since we are hopeing to partner with goodwill. this apply s to teks 2a

First

today was my first day back to school and it has been good so far, we worked on are pamphlet today and it turned out great. Teks 2(a)saving the world.

Well you see today was the third day that i was sick, this bothers me because i will have tons of make up work to do, however being sick has been a nice break from school. being sick applys to teks , 2(a) doing your work even if it is not the time it was originally due.

SWEET

As it turns out not being able to go camping has turned out well, i WILL be able to go to goodwill this saturday which is nice to know. the teks that applys is 2(a) saving the world.

Today i travled to the doctor and as it turns out i am sick. this is very disipointing because i am unable to go to school for the next two days and will not be able to go camping this weekend. there is now tek that applys to much as it sucks way more then the teks, yes thats right i said it sucked more then the teks. sad.

The Date

The date has been set for our visit to goodwill. However i will be unable to go due to a camp out this makes me feel sad inside however knowing that this applys to teks 2(A) apply computer technology to individual or community problems; makes it all better.

BEARS

THE NUMBER ONE THREAT, while some bears may look nice and cute they are not. Bears are the number one threat to human kind. Hunters should not be the hunted, bears should be. REMEMBER they have fur that makes them a lesser being.

1. Visit Goodwill Computer Store and coordinate some training for their staff to show you how they recycle computers.
2. Volunteer for several days to help the Goodwill Computer Store refurbish computers.
3. Create some basic instructions on the process of refurbishing process.
4. Create a wiki about refurbishing and connect different resources (people who donate equipment, people who are interested or knowledgeable about the process, people who need computers, people who will volunteer).
5. Add instructional content (video, still images, sound, animation) about refurbishing.
6. Coordinate volunteers to refurbish computers.
7. Contact software companies to supply software for free.
8. Possibly form a computer club to legitimately raise money for refurbishing costs.
9. Document your work and present the work to internet service providers, and convince them to provide free internet service with each refurbished computer.
10. Start a website and document some of the families and how they were helped.
11. Get media coverage to gain community support.
12. Hold fundraisers to raise money for refurbishment.
13. Provide a presentation to three community groups (Rotary, Lions, etc.) about the project.

Timeline:
1-2: three to four weeks
3-5: four weeks
6-10: six weeks
7-13: 12-18 weeks

Impact:
a. help families and students gain resources for learning.

PowerPoint,Open Office Impress , and Ibm symphony are all forms of presentation software, open office is my favorite because it has tabs that let you switch between handouts, notes and even an outline while powerpoints is much less convenint( we have no symphony )

So we have been in school for a month now and i am learning lots of new things in the field of computers although we just got the computers in this week. So far we learned how to create a Gmail account , use Google docs and create blogs.
